I finally got around to a simple fix.

You can find these very cheaply at a thrift store or buy some flannel yardage on sale at a fabric store. Wall space is a limited commodity in this house and i needed a multiple design wall solution. Very easy to install. Quilt design wall for perfect placement design.

Roll up your project for transport or for protection when not designing. Place your project work on it. Get one with soft white cottony backing that. It comes completly assembled on a mounting board.

Our fabric is unique with a high loft front and a smooth back allows your quilt pieces to roll up in the design wall and also allows you to pin to it all aluminum frame with a durable powder coat finish. Zigzag the edge of your design wall to finish the edge or use a serger to finish the edge. A folded finished seam may add too much bulk and when rolling an especially large design wall up you may not have enough clearance between the ceiling and the pipe if you roll a hem hence the zigzag. Leave dowel pocket end open.

Design walls are available commercially but it s easy to make an inexpensive portable or permanent quilt design wall. Design walls are most often created with a material that sticks to fabric making it easy to position your work on the wall without using pins or other implements to keep pieces in place. Sew doubled up ribbon to the top of one design wall that has a laminate backing. These design walls are great because you can lay out your blocks then roll them up with the blocks in place and take everything with you.
