I finally got around to a simple fix.

You can find these very cheaply at a thrift store or buy some flannel yardage on sale at a fabric store.
Wall space is a limited commodity in this house and i needed a multiple design wall solution.

Our fabric is unique with a high loft front and a smooth back allows your quilt pieces to roll up in the design wall and also allows you to pin to it all aluminum frame with a durable powder coat finish.
Zigzag the edge of your design wall to finish the edge or use a serger to finish the edge.
A folded finished seam may add too much bulk and when rolling an especially large design wall up you may not have enough clearance between the ceiling and the pipe if you roll a hem hence the zigzag.
